The Orthodontic Dental Assistant Course by Dentist Study Group is a comprehensive theoretical and practical program designed for dental assistants who want to develop the fundamental knowledge and clinical skills required to work effectively as part of an orthodontic team.

The program combines live online theory classes with an in-person Hands-On Training Day, allowing students to first understand orthodontic concepts, materials, instruments, procedures, and responsibilities—and then put those skills into practice.

What You Will Learn

Role, responsibilities, and daily workflow of an Orthodontic Dental Assistant
Introduction to orthodontic terminology and treatment
Identification and organization of orthodontic instruments and materials
Understanding the different types of brackets, bands, archwires, elastics, and accessories
How to recognize different brackets and their correct orientation
Basic principles of bracket positioning
Placement and removal of orthodontic ligatures
Identification and handling of archwires
Preparation of the operatory for orthodontic procedures
Chairside assisting during orthodontic appointments
Infection control and proper handling of orthodontic materials
Patient preparation and communication
Step-by-step orthodontic appointment workflow
Responsibilities before, during, and after the orthodontic procedure

Hands-On Training

Students will participate in a dedicated practical session where they can apply the concepts learned during the online classes.

The Hands-On portion includes practice with:

Brackets • Archwires • Ligatures • Elastics • Orthodontic instruments • Typodont exercises • Bracket identification and positioning • Placement and removal techniques
